Bridge: An Impossible Performance?

This event has now passed

Friday 27 & Saturday 28 September
Broadgate, Coventry
FREE

Due to the forecasted rain tonight’s Bridge: An Impossible Performance will now be at 7pm.

This is still weather permitting as fixing a broken bridge is very difficult and may become impossible  in wet weather. Please join us in our epic quest or you can still tune into our web feed at 8.30 to see last night's show.

A group of acrobat engineers attempt to cross the bridge and find it much, much harder than they thought. Gravity-defying circus acrobatics, dance, comedy, theatre and live music, inspired by local people's stories, create a thrilling and moving montage of the courage, compassion and humour needed to bridge a divide.

Presented by Imagineer Productions, with special thanks to Coventry City of Culture 2021 and Coventry City Council.

This performance lasts for approximately 50 minutes. It is a standing performance and may have to be edited in the case of adverse weather.

Inspirations

In 2018 we collected stories from people in Coventry, Grantham and Worcester about their experiences of bridge-building and bridge-burning. These stories inspired Bridge: An Impossible Performance? and all parts of the Bridge project.

‘You have not truly engaged in reconciliation until your own people feel you have betrayed them’
The Very Reverend John Witcombe, Dean of Coventry

‘You cannot cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water’
Rabindranath Tagore
